Vancouver pilot consultation
A series of .eco consultations have taken place in Europe, Africa, Latin America, Oceania, and North America over the past nine months, with the goal of confirming a suite of policies that will govern the operation of .eco.
In preparation, a pilot consultation was held in Vancouver, Canada on May 20th, 2009.
The consultation included twenty-one stakeholders representing broad aspects of the sustainability community including non-governmental (NGO), philanthropic, and the private sector, who gathered to learn about, inform and help shape .eco.
Consultation Objectives
- Inform invited stakeholders about new Top Level Domains, the ICANN application process and Big Room’s engagement strategy;
- Foster multi-stakeholder discussion amongst a diverse array of representatives from the environmental, sustainability, technology, government, private sector and academic communities; and
- Identify key issues, opportunities and challenges around developing .eco policies.
The meeting was facilitated and results were compiled by the Meridian Institute. They will be presented as background documentation to the Oceania consultation participants.
