Professor James Gustave "Gus" Speth to Advise Big Room and Dot Eco

Big Room is honoured to welcome Professor James Gustave "Gus" Speth, Sara Shallenberger Brown Professor in the Practice of Environmental Policy former Dean of the School of Forestry and Environmental at Yale University, as an advisor and supporter of our application for the Dot Eco top level domain.

Professor Speth will join other sustainability leaders, including Dr. Ashok Khosla, Chairman of Development Alternatives and President of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Dr. David Runnalls, President of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) in helping to ensure Dot Eco is innovative, accountable and above all, sustainable.

Speth’s most recent book 'The Bridge at the Edge of the World' is a call to arms for the environmental community - one that embraces a new generation of environmental leaders and new thinking about solving some of the most pressing global issues of our time.

Other publications include Red Sky at Morning: America and the Crisis of the Global Environment; Worlds Apart: Globalization and the Environment; and articles in Foreign Policy, Foreign Affairs,Environmental Science and Technology, the Columbia Journal World of Business, and other journals and books.

Among his awards are the National Wildlife Federation’s Resources Defense Award, the Natural Resources Council of America’s Barbara Swain Award of Honour, a 1997 Special Recognition Award from the Society for International Development, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Environmental Law Institute, and the Blue Planet Prize.
